  5-Year Action Plan

Nov. 2007

Mission Statement: To strengthen the sense of community through promotion and enhancement of the arts in the Kendrick and Juliaetta area. 


2007-08 Proposed Projects:

 

December 2007 – Decorate a Tree in Kendrick Memorial Park.  Participate with the community in lighting the park for Christmas and donating a basket to the fire department fund raiser.

  • Collaborate with KHS Art Club

  • Expense: $50

 

December 2007 – Annual Christmas Art Show, an opportunity for the local artists to display their art work to the community.  Location will be in the Wells Fargo Bank lobby prior to Christmas.

  • KJAC Chair: Barb Murphey

  • Collaborate with JK Watercolorists and Wells Fargo Bank

  • Expense: none

 

March 2008 – Provide art experiences for Juliaetta Elementary School students by sponsoring an artist in residence program.

  • Co-chairs:  Carol Smith, Teri Hornberger, Barb Murphey

  • Collaborate with Elementary School staff

  • Expense: $750

 

April 2008 – Arbor Day family concert with minstrel Tom Hunter

  • Chair: Polly Taylor Dennler

  • Collaborate with Fix Ridge 4H, Friends of the Library and ACTION

  • Expense: $500

 

May 2008 - Locust Blossom Art Show and Sale in Kendrick Memorial Park will encourage artists of all media, including photography, to enter their work.

  • Collaborate with schools to enter student work

  • Expense: $50 for meal tickets for student helpers

 

May 2008 – Flower Arranging Workshop for Memorial Day for parents and children.

  • Co-chairs: Polly Taylor Dennler and Barb Murphey

  • Collaborate with Hill and Valley Garden Club and VFW

  • Expense: materials

 

Spring 2008 – Writers’ Workshop with Victoria Stricklin

  • Chair: Chris Kowrach

  • Collaborate with Friends of the Library

  • Expense: none

 

Spring 2008 – Mural on Kendrick High School bleachers

  • Chair:  Peggy Fiske

  • Collaborate with Art Club

  • Expense: materials

 

Summer 2008 – Acting Experience with Lewiston Civic Theater (Mary Minton)

  • Chair: Peggy Fiske

  • Collaborate with High School staff

  • Expense: to be determined

 

August 2008 – Begin plans to sponsor essay contests, Patriot Pen for grades 6-8 and Voice of Democracy for grades 9-12

  • Chair: Laura McConnell.

  • Collaborate with schools and VFW

  • Expense: none

 

September 2008 – Blackberry Festival Art Show and Sale

  • Expense: none

 


PROPOSED FUTURE PROJECTS 

  • Sponsor a poetry writing workshop with LCSC instructor Johnson

  •  Assist with murals for high school, inside and out of classrooms with theme for each classroom

  •  Participate in VFW Craft Show, second week in November

  • Production by Festival Dance Theater of Moscow

  •  Provide a mask making workshop

  • Collaborate with Juliaetta Library on a Summer Reading Program

  •  Provide enhanced seating and other items to encourage people gathering at the park in Kendrick.
