2006-07 Proposed Projects:

  • COMPLETED - December 2006 - The Second Annual Watercolor Art Show was an opportunity for local watercolor artists to display their art work to the community two weeks prior to Christmas.  The Kendrick Wells Fargo Bank lobby provided the location of a much appreciated diverse visual extravaganza of watercolor painting of 9 local artist's work. • COMPLETED - February 20, 2007 – Genealogy and Historical Research Workshop and Book Reading was held at the Juliaetta Community Library.  Fourteen people attended the 10:00 am to noon  session,  presented by local Latah County writer Julie Monroe.  She shared historical research pointers, give factual writing hints, and provide clues on how she got three books published. Her book titled, "Latah County (Images of America)" celebrates the past and present optimism and resourcefulness of us, the citizens of Latah County with over 200 photographs .  The are specific chapters on the people and places in Juliaetta and Kendrick, Bovill and Deary, Genesee,, Moscow, Potlatch, Troy, and the University of Idaho.  "Moscow", the title of Julie's second book published in 2006 details Moscow's history.   "Moscow: Living and Learning on the Palouse" was Julie's first published book in 2003.  After the information sharing and refreshments Julie provided a reading session.!  Her books as well as other Kendrick-Juliaetta historical media were sold.  Attendees commented on how much they enjoyed and appreciated the quality event. Julie's e-mail contact is jrmonroe@turbonet.com for specific questions concerning her books.

  • COMPLETED Feb.24, and March 10, 2007 – Scrap booking and Card Making Workshops were offered from 9:00 am - 1:00 each day as an opportunity for 8 year old and older youth (each being accompanied by an adult) and adults (without a youth companion) to be creative in specific projects and working on their own using paper, glue and scissors. Randy Haylett an experienced scrap booker and card maker lead the sessions in the Juliaetta Community Church basement (402 Main in Juliaetta). A total of 19 adults and 13 youth interacted.  The youth's projects often came out so well they ended up sharing their creative techniques with inquiring adults in the class.   An Accucut machine with multiple die cut out patterns was available on loan from the Latah County Library District.  A pre-registration fee of $5.00/person/session was collected.  This event was so enjoyed there was a discussion exploring the possibility of continuing this sharing opportunity and meet once a month.

Expense: $502.00  Actual funding provided by the Latah County Arts & Culture Committee & registration.

  • COMPLETED May 26, 2006 - The Locust Blossom Art Show and Sale was viewed by over 350 people in the Kendrick Park under our new canopy.  It worked well to have the youth and adult art work displayed on the inside tables as well as on the walls of the canopy.  The previously purchased gallery panels were used to display items that needed to be hung. This included a variety of talented watercolor works by the J-K Watercolorist group.   The Kendrick High School Art Club youth were invaluable as they both set-up and tore-down the canopy.

K-J Arts Committee and J-K Watercolorist members participated.  Grant funds from the Latah County Arts and Culture Committee helped purchase the canopy and five folding tables.
