  • COMPLETED: December 2005 - The lobby of Kendrick's Wells Fargo Bank was the location of the Juliaetta - Kendrick Watercolorist Art Sale.  The bank sponsored a "Meet the Artists" reception the opening day of the two week show.  Sidewalk reader boards  informed people of the sale, bringing many new people into the bank, to view the works of art.  This event was appreciated by everyone who interacted with the opportunity.

  • COMPLETED: January 2006 – The Kendrick-Juliaetta Arts Committee Web Site became available for on-line viewing.  The site address is http://kjarts.info.  It is designed as a content-rich site providing the following: Kendrick-Juliaetta Arts Committee information, local entertainment, grant sources and information, specific arts and artists information with emphasis to our local area.  This  site supports our direct tie to the Kendrick-Juliaetta Community Development Association whose site is located at http://www.kendrick-juliaetta.org.

  • COMPLETED: February 25th and March 11, 2006  - Eleven intermediate skilled watercolorist attended the 2 1/2 hour Watercolor Workshop Sessions.  Judy Brand, an international artist and teacher in the fine arts now living in Lewiston was the instructor. The event was located at the Juliaetta Elementary School cafeteria with a $5.00/student/session fee charged. The following information was provided with open painting provided after each session.
    • Creating various textures -Reviewing washes and brush strokes
    • Becoming visually articulate using reference photos and value sketches
    • Seeing positive and negative shapes
    • Seeing value and value patterns to improve your painting composition
    • Keeping color clean -- setting up a palette -- Warm and cool colors -- Know your color scheme
    • Critiquing of the participants value sketches and paintings was provided during the second session.

Expense:  $384.00  -- $250.00 grant provided by the Latah County Arts and Culture Committee

  •  COMPLETED: March 4, 2006 - Eleven aspiring writers attended the Writers Workshop titled "Character and Dialogue: Who are they and what are they saying?" and thirteen people attended the 4:30 -5:30 pm Reading held at the Juliaetta Community Library.  Andrea Clark Mason and Billy Merck both writers and WSU professors facilitated the free workshop from 1 - 4.  Adults and high school students interested in writing were invited to participate.  This was part of the Latah Library District's Latah County Writes program which provided different information from different writers at each of the libraries.

Grant funds received from the Latah County Community Foundation and Latah Country Arts and Culture Committee -- Judy Sobeloff, Event Coordinator and grant writer for the program Latah County Writes. 

  • COMPLETED:  May 10 - 19 2006 - Juliaetta Elementary All School Origami Artist Residency was provided by local artist Laura McConnel.  After the 4 - 7th graders received their instruction they mentored the K - 3rd graders during their learning opportunity.  Fun was had by all 176 people and  they were exposed to a beautiful cultural art form.  Some of the art work was displayed at the 2006 Locust Blossom Art Show and Sale.

  • COMPLETED: May 27, 2006 - The 2006 Locust Blossom Art Show and Sale was located in the old Farm Bureau Insurance office next to Kendrick's dentist office.  three hundred and thirty-five people viewed the art work.  This show exhibited and sold art items from the local K – 12 students including Art Club and Jr. Art Club projects, and 22 local artists. The featured artists were the J-K Watercolorist painting group.  Our total artist participation increased by two from last year with 36% of the total showing artists being new to this event.   Historical media in the form of VHS, DVD, and CD's (for computer viewing) detailing Kendrick and Juliaetta Tram History (1890-1936), oral facts, photos and an interview with Ernie Brammer was available as a fund raiser for the arts committee at $20.00 per copy.  The Centennial History of the Kendrick - Juliaetta Area book was also available.  Jan Patterson representing the local Seven Ridges Historical Society shared the show space with the arts committee.

  • Determined Not to be a Need: Spring 2006 –  Fun Machine Organ Music Lessons  are being offered for the 12 elementary school students currently attending the after-school Come 4 Fun program and its staff.  A series of basic music lessons will be provided so the students and staff can play the Fun Center organ recently donated to them in the name of the Kendrick-Juliaetta Arts Committee.

  • COMPLETED: September 9, 2006 - 2006 Blackberry Festival Art Show and Sale: Provide an opportunity for local watercolorist to show and sell their creations to the community at this annual festival located in Juliaetta.

Co-Sponsor:  Juliaetta-Kendrick Watercolorist and Three Bear Painters,   Cost: $10.00

  • COMPLETED:  September 9, 2006 - Provided Youth Art Opportunities during the Juliaetta Blackberry Festival Youth Events held from 10:00 to 11:30.  Leaf Rubbing, Poem and Story Completion, and drawing opportunities were all offered centered around Blackberries.  A collage made from the leaf rubbings, along with the literary and drawings were then displayed at the Juliaetta Community Library.  106 people came through the gate for this opportunity.  32 youth, below 13 years old participated in the 12 available events.  Because of many other community organizations participation this total event was possible.
  • Completed: Tile Wall Project Centennial Park in Juliaetta: In co-operation with Peggy Fiske’s art students provide help in expanding the broken tile wall presently at the park to the other sides of the bathroom walls.   One scene of the Hills of the Palouse was provided in 2005.

Projected Time:  Summer 2007,   Projected Cost: $400.00 

 

  • Provide representatives and help in the following community projects:
    • Latah County Youth Advocacy Council and the local task force ACTION Council representation in promoting and facilitating positive youth development opportunities in our community
    • Kendrick Memorial Pool Mural renovation.
    • Kendrick Depot Renovation project which will provide economical meeting space for classes and gatherings.
    • Latah County Library Board of Trustee representative.
